1. About Us

Quick Scrap ("we", "us", "our") is a scrap vehicle collection service operated by Roman Drew, trading as Quick Scrap, of Newham Road, Truro, TR1 2SU ("the Business"). Quick Scrap is a sole trader business and is not a registered limited company.

We are a registered scrap metal dealer under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, licence number LI25_000639, issued by Cornwall Council. This licence covers the collection, purchase and processing of scrap vehicles and metal within our operating area.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern any quote, booking, collection or purchase of a vehicle arranged with us, whether made online through our website or quote widget, by telephone, or in person. By requesting a quote or booking a collection with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Getting a Quote

Quotes provided through our online widget, by phone, or in person are estimates based on the information you provide about your vehicle, including its registration, condition, and completeness.

  • A quote is not a binding offer until the vehicle has been physically inspected at the point of collection.

  • The final price paid may differ from an initial quote if the vehicle's actual condition, weight, completeness, or documentation differs materially from what was described when the quote was given.

  • Quotes are valid for 7 days from issue unless otherwise stated, as scrap metal and vehicle values fluctuate with market prices.

3. Booking & Collection

Once you accept a quote and book a collection, we will arrange a collection date and time with you. You must ensure that:

  • You are the legal owner of the vehicle, or have the legal authority of the owner to sell it.

  • The vehicle is accessible at the agreed time and location.

  • You provide accurate registration and vehicle details at the time of booking.

  • Any personal belongings have been removed from the vehicle prior to collection. We accept no responsibility for items left in a vehicle at the point of collection.

We aim to honour agreed collection times but delays may occasionally occur due to traffic, weather, vehicle access issues, or operational constraints. We will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed of any changes.

4. Ownership & Transfer of Title

Ownership of the vehicle transfers to Quick Scrap at the point of collection and receipt of payment, or receipt of the V5C (logbook) and any other required documentation, whichever is later at our discretion.

You confirm, by requesting collection, that the vehicle is free from outstanding finance, is not stolen, and that you are legally entitled to sell it. We reserve the right to decline collection, or to withhold payment, where ownership or legal title cannot be reasonably verified.

5. DVLA Notification

As a licensed scrap metal dealer, we are required by law to notify the DVLA that a vehicle has been taken in for scrap. We will submit a Certificate of Destruction notification to the DVLA on your behalf, typically on the same day as collection.

It remains your responsibility to check that the DVLA has correctly updated the vehicle's status following our notification. We are not liable for delays or errors on the part of the DVLA that are outside our control.

6. Payment

Payment for vehicles collected is made by bank transfer to the account details you provide to us at the time of booking. We do not typically carry or offer cash payment for vehicle collections.

  • You are responsible for providing accurate bank account details. We accept no liability for payments sent to an incorrect account where the error results from incorrect details provided by you.

  • Payment is normally made on the day of collection or within a reasonable period afterwards, following confirmation of the vehicle's final weight, condition, and completeness.

  • Any difference between the original quote and the final payment, arising from the condition of the vehicle at collection, will be explained to you before payment is made.

7. Vehicle Condition & Accuracy of Information

Any quote given is based on the information you provide, including whether the vehicle has a valid MOT, is a runner or non-runner, and is complete (e.g. has an engine, catalytic converter, and other major components fitted). If this information is later found to be inaccurate at the point of collection, we reserve the right to revise the quote accordingly.

8. Cancellations

You may cancel a booking at any time prior to collection, free of charge, by contacting us using the details below. We reserve the right to cancel or decline a collection where we reasonably believe the vehicle does not meet the description provided, where ownership cannot be verified, or where access to the vehicle is not possible on the agreed date.

9. Liability

We take reasonable care when collecting vehicles from your property. We are not liable for pre-existing damage to a vehicle, driveway, or surrounding property that occurred prior to our attendance. Any damage caused directly by our negligence during collection should be reported to us as soon as possible so we can investigate.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

10. Data Protection

We collect and process personal data (such as your name, contact details, vehicle registration, and bank details) in order to provide our collection service. Full details of how we handle your personal data are set out in our separate Privacy Policy, available on request or on our website.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us using the details below so we can look into it and try to resolve the matter directly with you.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or our services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
